Supporting Orleans Community Health
Remember our past. Support our present. Shape our future.
In 1905, Bowen’s young son Irving was trampled by a horse leaving him with crippling injuries that required him to travel to Rochester for treatment for years. Bowen realized the need for good care closer to home. This reality led him to charge the effort to bring a fully-functioning, modern hospital to Medina.
It took 15 years for George Bowen’s dream for a hometown hospital to become reality. Spearheaded by Bowen himself, dozens of clubs and organizations held fundraisers to finance the hospital project, which was built from 1924-1925. He worked tirelessly for the hospital and was such a familiar figure visiting patients, doctors and even in the operating room, so much so that he was fondly referred to as “Doctor”.
The Orleans Community Health Foundation strives to keep George Bowen’s legacy alive through its many opportunities for giving to support the organization’s current needs and plan for future advancement.

Share the care that you’ve been given with others.
Your care is the top priority when you visit any of the Orleans Community Health sites. Whether you’ve come for a procedure, testing, or an emergency, our doctors, nurses, technicians and staff want to make sure you feel comfortable while you’re receiving care. Sometimes our patients thank us with warm smile or handshake; and sometimes our patients and their families choose to express their gratitude with charitable gifts to help us care for even more patients.
When you become one of our CareGivers, you take the opportunity to thank a member or members of our care team that made a difference to you. Your special gift not only honors that staff but also helps provide the tools they need to make sure their service is matched with superior medical resources. Your gift is so important to ensure that your friends, family, coworkers and neighbors receive state-of-the-art care from our dedicated team.
